A heavy duty cart would be the ideal solution!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I checked the online inventory of the local industrial surplus place (HGR), and I saw a good candidate. When I went to their warehouse to check it out, the cart was certainly sturdy \u2014 old school, heavy gauge steel! But the wheels had flat spots, and one wheel mount was bent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, the price was right ($15!!!), and I already had some locking casters at home from an old furniture dolly, so those wheels could be replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"606\" height=\"622\" src=\"https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/raw-cart.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/raw-cart.jpg 606w, https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/raw-cart-292x300.jpg 292w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Before I started modifying anything, the cart needed a good cleaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, I took off the old wheels. Three of them unbolted easily. The fourth was a surprise \u2014 someone had welded it in place! I had to cut it off and grind down the rough edges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"780\" src=\"https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cart_wheels.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cart_wheels.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mikedesantis.com\/press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cart_wheels-295x300.jpg 295w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I painted the cart with a gray, hammered-finish spray paint.
